AT&T saw the last season of Game of Thrones as an opportunity to drive traffic to the portal and to a microsite they could monetize with while providing meaningful stories and video clips to their users in anticipation of the new season. I designed a Drupal template for several microsites that the AT&T marketing team needed for any of their upcoming sponsored events and shows so that they were able to quickly build and launch these microsites. We reused the template for Game of Thrones and added new features and designs in honor of the new season.
The top map portion concept would have pins on the map that a user can hover over to either read episode information about or link to a video clip of something that happened in that area on the map. We also came up with a Tinder style concept of reading bios of characters on the show.
